Cantor Gedaliah Gertz Education Center
Temple Israel’s main child-related program is through the Cantor Gedaliah Gertz Education Center. The center’s mission is to foster the creation of Jewish adults who can participate actively and confidently in Jewish life.
Our curriculum is based upon the tenets of Judaism through our unique and inclusive role as a Reform Jewish community. We believe that through the study and experience of the Hebrew language, Jewish time (holidays, life cycle events, history, Torah), and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), we will create a solid foundation for participation in our Temple, the larger Jewish community, and our greater human family.
Students and their families are encouraged to engage in Jewish learning and living throughout the year. Temple provides fun and enriching occasions to come together in answering the question: What does it mean to live a Jewish life? The Education Center sponsors gatherings such as holiday celebrations, Wow Worship, Rock Shabbat and the yearly School Shabbat. Wee Sing is available monthly for the 0 to 4 year olds. Temple Israel also provides mitzvah opportunities with programs like Family Promise.
Most activities for children are part of the Education Center, but other children are welcome to participate. See the online Calendar for specific scheduled events.
Temple Israel activities for children have included:
- Purim Carnivals
